Electional Astrology for Haircuts
Electional astrology can be used for mighty tasks (like the founding of Baghdad, which was astrologically elected), or for the most mundane things. The Heavens don’t care – I suspect that from way up high, everything we do seems pretty minute, whether we are fighting wars or taking the dog out for a walk.
I don’t get asked for electional charts for the founding of cities very often, but I do get asked for the best times to get haircuts. To help you find the best times for cutting hair, I have compiled the times below for all of 2007, based on traditional astrological principles.
My Experience with Astrologically Elected Haircuts
I have had very good results with getting my hair cut at times that I elected. For the last year or so, I have been growing my hair out, so I was going for fast growth and thickness. There is definitely an improvment in the quality and quantity of my hair, and I have started getting a number of compliments on it, without changing the style or color. This is definitely subjective (if you are a researcher who wants to pursue this, let me know), but it works and is also kind of fun.
Will it work for you? While I cannot guarantee anything, my own results have been pretty good. Also, the better condition that your hair is in to begin with (yes, nutrition does matter a great deal here), the more responsive it will be to the stellar influences. If you are totally, utterly, 100% bald, I don’t know how you could use the times below for haircuts.
How to Use the Best Times for Haircuts
The key is to start in the time range provided; you don’t have to finish within the time given, but the actual haircut has to start in that range. I have eliminated eccentric times (no haircut performed at 3 a.m. can be good, regardless of the astrological influences), so that the haircut can start at a reasonable time.
Do not expect success if you just get your hair cut once during an astrologically elected time; repetition and persistence is key. In my own experience, there was not much difference after the first haircut or two, but after a year of regular haircuts at elected times, the difference was quite noticeable. I think it’s kind of like pruning a tree or making a bonsai – it takes patience and time. As do most worthwhile things in life.
IMPORTANT CAVEAT: The times and dates below are set for San Francisco, California, local time. The elections are heavily dependent on the position of the Moon and the Ascendant. Thus, the times are not nearly as reliable if you just convert the time to your own time zone, because the Moon will have moved significantly by the time your time zone comes up. Even if you live in the same time zone as me, but elsewhere (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, for instance), you will not get as reliable a result from using the times below, because the Ascendant may be different due to the different location. So if you fiddle with these times for other locations and find your results are different from what you wanted – well, that’s the risk you take.

Lasting Haircut (Slow Hair Growth)
Many people have problems with hair that just grows out too fast, and they seem to need a haircut every couple of weeks. Also, particularly if you are a woman, you may spend a great deal of money on a stylish and fancy ‘do, only to have it grow out very quickly. This gets very expensive very quickly, and is an annoyance to many.
I believe (though I have not tested this myself) that these are also decent times to get your hair dyed, without the roots growing out very fast. This is another expensive procedure that can be curtailed through astrology.
This year, there are only four times in the Pacific Time Zone that are really good for slowing down hair growth, and that are not happening in the wee hours of the night. If you absolutely insist on the frivolity of getting your hair cut more than four times a year, I would recommend you check the fast growth list below, and at least try to avoid the times that would make your hair grow out very quickly.

Fast Growing Hair
2007 is a good year for those of us who are growing out our hair, and are going for those long, flowing Rapunzel-like locks in a hurry. This is also good to try if you are about to make a dramatic change in your hairstyle, but are not sure if you will like it. There are many times to choose from. If you find you cannot make the times below, be sure to check the “slow growth” list above, and avoid those dates.

Thick, Faster-Growing Hair
These are the times to go for if you want more hair, or even a veritable jungle (no tropical insects, though) perched atop your head. I have chosen these elections such that fullness and sheer quantity is the prime directive, with slightly faster growth (though probably not as fast as if you used the list above, which is designed for very fast growth) than is normal for you.
If you want thick and faster-growing hair, but find you need a haircut January through March, you should check the Slow Growth list above, and avoid those dates, at least.
