Am I Pregnant?
Horary astrology excels both at predicting future events, and at assessing the current reality of the situation. A few years ago, a friend asked me: “Am I pregnant?” She had been hoping for a baby for a long time, and was now in her mid-thirties, so time was running short. The reading below is reproduced with her kind permission.
Horary Astrology Reading: Am I Pregnant?

Ideally, to show pregnancy, we would want to see a close connection between the ruler of the 1st house of self, and the ruler of the 5th house of children. In this horoscope, the ruler of the first house is Jupiter in Libra in the seventh house, while the ruler of the fifth house of children is the Moon in Aries.
Traditionally, finding the ruler of the fifth house just inside the Ascendant is considered strong evidence of pregnancy, as it shows the baby literally inside the mother's body. An aspect between the first and fifth house rulers is also considered strong evidence of pregnancy. In this horoscope, we don't have either of these strong testimonies. On the contrary, the Moon is afflicted by an exact opposition from Mars in Libra in the eighth house. Mars in Libra is in the sign of its detriment, so it is made rather malefic by this placement. Mars is conjunct the baby's turned fourth house of endings, indicating that perhaps the pregnancy did start (the Moon's last aspect was an opposition to Jupiter), but it did not last.
So, unfortunately, she was not pregnant at this time, as a later pregnancy test showed (though she did get pregnant 18 months later!).
