Six Ways to Determine Compatibility in the Horoscope
There are no guarantees in love, but over the years, we’ve found that the more of these six astrological factors are in play, the more likely it is that the relationship will last.

1. The Sun in each horoscope is in the same element.
This means that you are on the same wavelength, and it doesn’t take too much effort to figure out what the other person is thinking and feeling:
- Fire = Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
- Earth = Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
- Air = Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
- Water = Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
2. Person A's Sun is in the same element as person B's Moon, or vice versa.
If this goes both ways, then this is an extra-powerful combination.
For example, A's Sun in Scorpio is in the water element, which is the same as B's Moon in Pisces, another water sign.
3. Rising signs/ascendants are in compatible elements, or the same element.
Water-Earth and Fire-Air are the two favorable inter-element combinations. Person A's Sagittarius (fire) ascendant is compatible with person B's Aquarius (air) ascendant.
4. Venus in both charts is in compatible elements.
This factor, as well as the next one, has to do with sexual compatibility, as well as general energetic similarity.
Example: Person A's Venus in Pisces is compatible with person B's Venus in Cancer.
5. Mars in both charts is in compatible elements.
Example: Person A’s Mars in Aries is compatible with person B's Mars in Leo.
6. There are not too many “inconjunct” combinations in steps 1-6.
Signs that are inconjunct are adjacent (e.g. Pisces and Aries) or 6/8 signs apart (e.g.: Aries and Virgo, or Aries and Scorpio). Traditionally, these signs are thought not to see eye-to-eye. They are not friends, and not mortal enemies; just indifferent.
